Legendary places and monuments to discover

When strolling through Paris, it’s impossible not to visit some of the capital’s most iconic landmarks. Among them are the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Élysées, and the Louvre. However, these aren’t the only ones, and it’s hard to list them all. To give you a brief overview, here you’ll find some of the most famous landmarks of Parisian heritage, organized by neighborhood (only the most iconic ones), to help make your visit easier.

The Marais neighborhood

A trendy and lively neighborhood in Paris, the Marais is home to many must-see spots. And for good reason, since it stretches from Place de la République—just a stone’s throw from the Canal Saint-Martin —through the BHV Marais (an iconic Parisian department store) all the way to Place de la Bastille and its opera house. As you stroll through the area, you’ll have the chance to visit the Tour Saint-Jacques, the Place des Vosges, the Picasso Museum, and many other sites.

Montmartre, Paris

The Montmartre neighborhood

The Montmartre neighborhood is undoubtedly one of the areas of Paris with the most village-like atmosphere. It’s therefore very pleasant to stroll through its cobblestone streets or enjoy a coffee at one of the charming bistro terraces. It’s also in this neighborhood that you can take the funicular or walk up to the Montmartre hill (the highest point in Paris) to admire the Sacré-Cœur Basilica and watch the artists sketching portraits of visitors.

The Latin Quarter

The Latin Quarter is one of Paris’s historic neighborhoods. It’s no surprise, then, to find numerous monuments and institutions dating back several centuries, such as the Sorbonne University (built in the 13th century), the Collège de France, and the Senate. A visit to this neighborhood will also take you to the Luxembourg Gardens and Museum, as well as to the Panthéon, where many figures who have shaped French history and culture—such as Voltaire, Victor Hugo, Pierre and Marie Curie, and others—are laid to rest.
